    Exciting News

Battle Flatts are merging with Applegarth Veterinary Clinic in Malton

As from the 1st of September 2008 we will have four surgeries, we are merging with Applegarth Veterinary Clinic in Malton.

All our surgeries are connected by computer so you can call any of the practises for help with appointments and prescriptions.

APPLEGARTH is a successful small animal veterinary practice that was established by Gill and Clive Reid in St. Nicholas Street, Norton in 1992. As a family run business, it has provided the all-important personal touch that seems to be so lacking these days. Its friendly, caring and welcoming atmosphere has meant that it has developed a great reputation in the community.

As time has moved on, Gill and Clive have decided to take things a bit easier and leave the running of the practice to others, so it was logical for them to merge with Battle Flatts Veterinary Clinic, another long established family run surgery based at Stamford Bridge.

    Gill Reid

The two practices have a long and well established working relationship, sharing vets, and often assisting each other with complicated cases.

The merger allows Gill to concentrate on her main love, her clinical work as a vet, and for Clive to take a well earned partial retirement.

Joining Gill and the team there will be:

    Katie Limb

Katie has recently graduated from Bristol Vet School, where she came top in the final exams for Small Animal Medicine, a significant achievement. Her veterinary degree was her second, as she already had studied zoology at Liverpool University. Although obviously very bright, Katie has a down to earth happy nature. Her hobbies include painting and scuba diving. At home she has a retired racing greyhound, and several cats. She has spent the last few months working at Battle Flatts in Pocklington with Liz Harland and Matt Brash.

    Dawn Ward

Dawn has worked at Battle Flatts for over ten years. She is highly qualified, having not only qualified as a veterinary nurse, but also having gone on to take and pass the Diploma in Advanced Veterinary Nursing (Medical). She has recently returned from maternity leave and will be working part time alongside Applegarth’s existing team of nurses.

    WHEN WILL THIS OCCUR?

The merger is taking place on 1st September 2008.

The opening hours at Strensall, Stamford Bridge and Pocklington will stay the same, with the same teams of people.

The hours at Applegarths will be longer.

    Consulting Hours Applegarths

During the week the consulting hours will continue as normal:

    Monday to Thursday:      8.30am – 10.30am; 2pm - 4pm; 5pm – 6.30pm

    Friday:                         8.30am – 9.30am; 2pm – 3pm; 5pm – 6.30pm

    Saturday:                     8.30am – 10.30am (Applegarth);

                                      2pm – 3pm (Stamford Bridge)

The nurses will be undertaking more consultations once they have undergone further training.

The surgery will be opening earlier, at 8.30am, and closing later, at 6.30pm, to provide easier access for those with busy working lives. The surgery will be open on Saturdays as before.

    Applegarths

Gill Reid will still be the main vet based at Applegarth, and she will be assisted by Katie Limb.

    Equipment

The surgery will be upgraded, providing a modern, high quality veterinary service for your pets, but still in a friendly atmosphere. The practices are all connected by computer so you will be able to ring a surgery of your choice for your prescriptions, appointments and any other advice.

    Telephone Numbers

The telephone numbers will stay exactly the same (01653 697299) Applegarths will have an extra telephone line, to allow your calls to be answered more swiftly.

    Out of hours

All surgeries will continue to have a 24 hour, 365 days of the year on-call service for you in cases of emergency. In addition to this there will be a dedicated out-of-hours vet on call all weekend, who will be able to deal with all your concerns, whether small animal or horse.
