    An evening with Tortoises

Andy Forsyth, one of our exotics vets, presented an evening dedicated to tortoises and was met with a great turnout and interaction.

There was a very high turnout for our evening talk dedicated to all things connected to tortoises, presented by Andrew Forsyth BVMS G.P.Cert (ExAp) MRCVS.
Andrew gave a very informative an interesting talk with a slide show and some lovely diagrams he had drawn himself, there a few chuckles when he turned a page to find his daughter Iona had helped Daddy by adding her own picture of a tortoise.

Andrew talked on subjects such as husbandry and feeding, daily care of older tortoises, understanding your tortoise, worming and parasite control, the importance of health checks, temperature and lighting control, preventative healthcare, vitamins, supplements and insurance.
There was some great feedback about the talk and the free food and drinks. A big percentage of people felt they had gained a greater understanding of the shelled warriors.
Andrew had prepared a pack of information for people to take home with them.

A big thank you to Andy from Leaping Lizards.
Andy very kindly brought a tortoise table with some lovely little tortoises and some fabulous products for people to discuss and was also on hand to chat and offer advice too.

We are always open to ideas for further evening talks that would interest you, so if you have a particular interest you would like to see discussed please feel free to email Stamford@battleflatts.co.uk. And then watch this space.
